A Manicure Amateur

I am almost ashamed to admit that I have only had four manicures in my life. Some how, I was able to convinced myself that it was far from relaxing, as most people say and a waste of money because I am so rough with my hands. Rather than burdening myself with the inevitable disappointment of the first chip that is almost impossible to keep from picking at, I decided if I wanted my nails painted, I would do it myself. HA HA...WISHFUL THINKING! I have the world’s shakiest hands, and no exaggerating, and pre-school child could do a better job keep the polish in the nail bed. I mentioned this problem before here. So when it comes to nail polish and manicures, I am a true amateur. I recently decided to spend the afternoon with a friend getting my first gel manicure, and did they ever look rad! According to the girls at the salon, gel nail polish is applied just like a traditional polish. Each layer is cured under a UV lamp, and lasts the standard two weeks or up to three if you have less moisture to your skin. When you want to change colors, the manicure must be soaked and then filed off, making the removal process a little timelier. The girls at Nail Diamond did a stunning job on my cosmic inspired one of kind design, and the more subtle look of my friends manicure. Both were true artists with over 30 years of experience between the two of them, having studied and worked in Japan, New York, and Los Angeles. I already have a plan for my next manicure, but I can't share it just yet.

  4. Wow, it looks great! I have not tried the gel yet, but I do enjoy painting my nails at home. My hands used to be shaky, but I got better with practice. I have tons of nail polish, and when I find 30 minutes of free time, I indulge myself in a manicure :) It's fun to looks at your hands and enjoy something artistic/pretty!
