What To Wear, What To Wear...

Lady Gaga Concert

... To the Lady Gaga Concert. Well, my birthday is tomorrow and a friend of mine is flying into to LA and taking me to the Lady Gaga concert. So naturally, I have been slightly preoccupied with what I am going to wear. I have been putting all kinds of looks together, and so far, this is one of my favorites. What do you think? I have already changed my mind half a dozen times. Hopefully I will have fun photos to share soon!

Cotton Candy, Carnies, and Clowns

The first step is something like admitting you have a problem, right!?! Well, I do have a problem. One that feels along the lines of what I could only image an ax, lodged in my head would feel like. Okay, so maybe that is not actually the problem, but certainly a condition of. So, that bag of cotton candy... It is gone, consumed within 24 hours. There, I said it! I did it, and I am paying the price now, as I sit here and attempt to type. At the time, I could think of no better way to amuse myself on this lazy weekend, other than a trip to the local street carnival. And what is a trip to the carnival without cotton candy?

PS- Check out the clown in the first photo, if you did not notice it already. That's exactly how I feel right about  now! LOL.

Wild Wild West

German model Toni Garrn's golden locks and fair skin serve as a stunning canvas for the assortment of Native American and western inspired accessories and clothing featured in the April issue of Vogue Spain. Working together, photographer Alexi Lubomirski and wardrobe stylist Belén Antolín created the perfect mix with antiqued imaging effects and vintage inspired apparel.

Here Lizard, Lizard, Lizard

Photography by Andrew Karst

This was one of the last tops that I picked up with a major discount at the recent LF Stores sale. The green and blackish purple speckled pattern really jumped out to me, likely because these colors are more often than not, my two favorites. I also discovered that my crystallized lizard cuff has two lines of light purple stones on each side. I'm guessing this is why I fell for it subconsciously.

Oh, and after looking at some recent shots, something became clear to me. I desperately need to stage a Lita intervention for myself. My other shoes are feeling neglected. Perhaps it is time to see if Solestruck has my size in any of the shoes that I want.

Pixie Market Cravings

I have been trying very hard to keep my spending under control recently, but with the weather changing for the better and so many fun activities in near my future, it is proving to be a little more difficult than usual. Between my quickly approaching birthday, the Lady Gaga concert, Coachella, and Stagecoach, I am going to have to be very resourceful. It is going to be a challenge to narrow this wish list down. What are you favorite looks?

What's In My Purse

Photography by Andrew Karst

I found this amazing silver and gold studded soft leather drawstring purse, complete with fringe tassels, at Top Shop during my trip to London last year. It quickly became one of my favorite bags to carry because of its coordinating versatility with almost all of my jewelry and other accessories.

Hamper Rummaging Confession

Photography by Andrew Karst

We all have those go to pieces of clothing in our closets, that without thinking, we reach for, to throw on for the day. I will go ahead and admit to rummaging threw the hamper in search of this over sized faded denim shirt. Usually it isn't anything a little Dryel can't fix... Right!?! As a matter of fact, old or new, almost everything in these photos falls in with this said shirt. Everything perfectly worn and comfortable for a relaxed day, with the exception of my new Free People pants. Without a doubt, these too, will become perfectly worn like the others.

One Of A Kind

Photography by Andrew Karst

The custom Toms Shoe DIY project that I started here, is completed. This was a quite simple project, and can be done with almost any color combination you can dream up. I decided to keep the all black stream line look of my Toms Shoes so they would still match many of my clothes. There are several lengths of zippers available, so depending on the size and color of the shoe, you can truly create a one of a kind piece.

Cherry Blossom In The Breeze

Photography by Andrew Karst

One of my favorite vendors at the Pasadena Flea Market is a gentleman that sells hand selected vintage kimonos. He travels to Japan several times a years in search of new pieces to sell. I was immediately taken with the bright orange and fuchsia color combination of this kimono. After the recent devastation, it is important for everyone to do what they can to support the relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific. Keep these people in your thoughts and prayers.

You can donated to the Red Cross HERE.

DIY Fashion: Custom Toms Shoes

I have a habit of starting multiple DYI Fashion projects at one time, and working on them each at it's own speed. As I stated previously here, I have an ever growing pile of projects to finish up. During one of my ever so too common bouts of insomnia, I decided to finish one up. It is quite simple really, but still fun none the less. I decided to turn an everyday pair of blacks Toms Shoes, into my own by adding a zipper. This gives them just a little bit of edge and originality, but still a streamlined look that will match almost anything. Try it out for yourself. Pictures to come of the finished project.

Check out this advertisement for Toms Shoes that I made while attending The Fashion Institute of Design in Merchandising. Sometime I really miss class...

Beach Bunnies Take Over The Colony

Photo via facebook

I spent yesterday evening at The Colony in West Hollywood for LA Fashion Weeks runway presentation of the Beach Bunny Swimwear line. I don't make it a habit to go out in Hollywood, but I made an exception because my friend arranged the show, and is a long time employee of the brand. The house was packed and the energy was high, only I had to leave just after the presentation because of a 6am call time, two hours aways from my home. It's hard to complain when you get paid to spend the day styling on the beach.

Here's what I wore to the show...

Unusual Weather and Unusual Hems

Photography by Andrew Karst

Two things... Looking at these pictures it kinda makes me laugh. I remember thinking how odd the weather was near the coast on the day I shot these. It was warm and sunny, as is most of the time in SoCal, but with a lingering fog that never really cleared the entire day. (I was hoping it would photograph better, so you could see what I am talking about.) I think it's safe to say we get unusual weather fronts around here, not bad ones. To all my loved ones back east, hope things are finally thawing out for you.

Also, I know it's nothing all that new, but I am totally digging the drop tail hem on shirts, skirts, and dresses. I'm not a huge fan of short bottoms, on me, so it adds just a little more coverage that makes the outfit perfectly comfortable. What  about you... How do you feel about the mullet trend in clothing?

In Full Bloom

Photography by Andrew Karst

The gardens at the Getty made for a beautiful place to take pictures. The greens were rich and lush, and blooms were bright and colorful. I especially liked how the red, yellow and purple tulips matched the colors of my Jeffrey Campbell Litas from Solestruck, and the vintage scarf that I wore on my head from the Rose Bowl flea market.

The Itch To Travel

Styled by Vittoria Cerciello in label such as Blumarine, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada, model Sofia Vlaming, captured by photographer Jean-François Campos gives me the itch to travel. The bright colors, bold patterns, and chunky accessories mix perfectly with the local culture in the streets of of Sao Luis, Brazi. Leaves me dreaming of the chance to explore a new part of world.
