Bright Sunshine and Bold Colors

Seriously, who rents out The Santa Monica Pier for a private party!?! Somehow, I am not really all that surprised, but boy did I feel bad for all the little kids whose parents had to explain that one to them. Or do I feel bad for the parents? Regardless, for myself and out of town friend, it was a great day to spend at beach biking and lunching, an almost obligatory sight seeing destination when you have out if town guests. The weather was just right, giving me an opportunity to wear my new skirt from Nasty Gal. I love to bold colors and uneven hem.

Dolphin As Far As The Eye Could See

Photography by Andrew Karst

Well, life has been a little hectic lately, with four house guests staying with me at once. A good kind of hectic though, with tasty food, refreshing drinks and lots of laughs. Yesterday we spent the day in Newport Beach whale watching. We were not lucky enough to see any whales, but we did see a pod of dolphin, easily numbering in the hundreds. Our young and charming captain explained that for every one dolphin seen, there is four below the surface of the water. My friend managed to capture a bit of the excitement via iphone. There were literally dolphin as far as the eye could see.

Made In The U.S.A.

I sense a weakening of will power on my part, consequently leading to failure in my near future. This fail will undoubtedly be in resisting the American Women trend that is so boldly building as we reach the All American summer months this year. This has also further led to a worsening of my clothes hoarding tendencies. Before you start letting your imagination run with that one, I have to assure you that I do not live in heaps of clothes. I have always kept my clothing, shoes and accessories unusually. Naturally, I was frustrated because I used to have an American flag button up long sleeve shirt, that would make the raddest DIY project, and a pair of Converse high tops, that I oh so loved, but are currently nowhere to be found. Ugh!

Look Out For The Crazed Girl

Photography by Andrew Karst

It was without a doubt one of those foggy days for me. Not literally foggy outside, but rather figuratively, in my head. Last nights slumber, or lack there of, prevented me from getting on that to do list, that I so desperately needed to tackle. Disappointingly, I am looking around to see that with the exception of this post, I have successfully procrastinated to the point that tomorrow, I will likely resemble some kind of crazed girl running around cleaning, shopping, and preparing for my four house guests. I am sure there are some of you that can relate however, to the fact that it is during these times, I find myself most inspired and dare I say happy. Gather from that what you will, but to me the idea of structure in life is a necessary evil. One that I crave at times, but more often than not, prefer to try to get by without.

Nasty Gals Goodies Sneak Peak

Here is a sneak peak at my Nasty Gal goodies that came in the mail today. It was so hard to decide, but I narrowed my extensive wish list down to a shirt, a skirt, a long vest, and the new Jeffery Campbell Lana shoes. I cannot wait to start putting looks together. There is so many fun and trendy ways to style an animal print, a vintage floral print, and lace. I will be sure to share as soon as I can!

A Little Pink Goes A Long Way

Photography by Andrew Karst

For years I have collected magazine tears and images of hairstyles that I coveted, more specifically, hair colors that I dreamed of trying. This inspirations is always trumped by the fear that if I changed my hair too dramatically, I would never be able to return to my natural color. The last thing I want to have is brassy fake blonde hair. My hair stylists' infectious excitement was just the nudge that I needed, because I left the salon last week with bright pink tips. He assured me that my natural color would not be lost, and the pink would fade into the much lighter shade that I preferred, in weeks to come.

Bubbles Make Everything Better

Photobucket

Photography by Andrew Karst

Between Blogger being functioning in read-only mode due to maintenance issues, and my last minute scramble to beat Los Angeles traffic out of town and mistakenly leaving my computer at home this weekend, I have been a blogger in turmoil, to say the least. It is funny how hobbies can so quickly become a normal part of our day to day life, so much so, that you feel off when kept from participating, and in my case sharing with my readers. I have realized lately that I may be becoming a little to accustomed to wedges and platforms, if that is even possible. My feet actually hurt from wearing flat shoes on set at work. I decided to give my Achilles a good stretching and start wearing flats every once in a while again. This pair happens to be my very favorite flats, purchased in Barcelona on a whim. I wish so badly that I purchased more in a variety of colors.

Between all the blogs I follow, email blasts, facebook posts, and twitter updates it is difficult not to be sucked in by the constantly evolving selection of clothes being offered to us fashion addicts by Nasty Gal. They do effortless cool with just the right amount edge the best, in my opinion. These are just a few my favorite pieces of the moment.

Petits Fours and Champaign

Images Via Fashion Gone Rouge

I was quickly drawn in by photographer Lara Jade's recent spread for Material Girl. Working with models Gigi and Irena, as well as stylist Lauren Armes, a light airy and subtly quirky feel was created. The colorful balloons, tousled bobs, and neutral hues are perfection. Wouldn't Petits Fours and Campaign be a yummy snack for a setting like this?

A Bucket Of Bolts

Photography by Andrew Karst

This old bucket of bolts made for a fun place to shoot pictures. That is until the crazy aggressive hornets decided it was time to defend there nest and its ten foot perimeter. I guess that is just a hazard of job. Luckily, after snapping a few quick pictures, I was able to escape with no stings after a few close calls. I now know the difference between a hornet and a bee, first hand. Yikes!

Fun Fact About Me: For a short while I worked on the farm of a nearby a neighbor, where I tended bee hives and extracted honey.

Paint The Town Red

Photography by Andrew Karst

I will be the first to admit that I have a problem... A shopping problem. It has likely come up before, regardless of who is receiving the goods, I simple love the process. The hunt to find the perfect outfit for a special occasion, just the right gift for a loved one, or a new wardrobe for a client, it sends me soaring above the clouds. Whether the behavior is genetic, learned, or just flat out self created, I cannot help myself. During my families visit to California, we ended up popping into a local outlet mall and shopping. Generally speaking, I do not typically get excited to shop outlets for myself, but it is still fun to do so for others. That is until we made our way to the second set of buildings in the cluster... A Barneys, A Saks, A Joes Jeans, A 7 For All Mankind,  An American Apparel, A BCBG Max Azria, A Diesel, A Perfumania, A Sunglasses Hut and the list goes on. My jaw dropped and bank account balances soon followed. I found this pretty Gypsy 05 dress and Laura Lee ankle boots at Saks, and could not wait to wear them. For me, it seems to work both way... I have something to do, so I find a new outfit... I have a new outfit, so I find something to do.

When One Shoe Doesn't Fit...

Photography by Andrew Karst

... Try Another! I was a little heartsick when my pink cheetah Senso Wilma's arrived in the mail and my size six and half foot would not fit in the hole of the size six and half shoe. Bummer, right!?! Rather then sit and dwell, I decided to pack them right back up and go for a shoe that I passed on a while back. It is a new shape and new brand for me, the Flashing Lights Boot by Irregular Choice. I cannot wait to start wearing them, however, I will be a teeny weeny bit sad when the cute little bunnies on the soles wear off.
