Taking A Leap

It being a leap year and all, and having this extra day to work with, I figured I would go for it and really take a leap, so to speak. With my closet overflowing and a penchant for DIY projects, I decided perhaps listing a few of my pieces for sale would be a new and exciting venture. I have never done the whole Ebay or Etsy thing, so I will start small, right here on Sugar Coated Style. Check out my new Sugar and Spice Vintage page HERE, where I have already begun to list items. Most everything I will be listing is a one of kind DIY piece or vintage find, so let me know what you think. My pricing is primarily based on what I paid for the original piece and my sentimental attachment to many of these items. So please, give them a good spot in your respective closets. I would love to see you shoot and post about the item if you yourself are a fellow fashion blogger.

Answered Prayers: Topshop At The Grove

Photobucket

By way of Refinery 29, my prayers have been answered. Granted, it sounds like I am going to have to wait a year, but by next February NYC will longer have the one up on us for shopping. That's right, we are getting a Topshop at The Grove. I don't care how big it is, I don't care how crowed it will be, I don't care how many girls I have to trip, kidding... sort of, I will be there for the grand opening with plastic in hand.

Camouflage and Cookie Cravings

Photography by Shannon Kerr

Errr... I am not gonna lie, all I can think about are cookies right now, and how bad I want some. Whew, now that I have that off my chest, let me re-focus and tell you something that actually matters. Ever since the good old days as a youngin' running around A&F, I have been know to throw on a spot of camo here or a dash of camo there. It simply never gets old to me, perhaps it has something to do with growing up in family of predominately men, who hunted, or possible, but not likely, I secretly want to blend in. Ha Ha... Right!?! In my opinion, what is more sweet than a little floral frock, with an army jacket?

Another Addiction: Pinterest

Geez, they were not kidding when speaking of just how addicting Pinterest really is. There is something so gratifying seeing all of the most inspirational images that you have come across, in one organized place, rather than in bookmarks here, folders there, and heaven help you if like myself, it has flooded onto your hard drive as well. I am only a beginner pinner, but follow me to see some of my favorite looks from the NyFW 2012 runways, a quick blast of Sugar Coated Style outfits, my latest shoe obsessions, and furry little friends that make my heart melt.

Cut Outs Create Character

Photography by Shannon Kerr

Just about any top that has one style of cut out or another in its design usually grabs my attention. Remember this Erin Wasson x RVCA sweater and this Furst of a Kind shirt. It goes without saying that the LF Stores sweater in this outfit post was no exception, and if you hurry, I am pretty sure they are having a big sale right now. I saw this exact style in the Manhattan Beach store just a few day ago. I find myself altering many of the things I purchase after I wear them a few times. You know, to give it a different look and longevity in my wardrobe. In a recent bout with boredom, I decided to take a few of the old shirts that I have collected over the years, and have at them with scissors, studs, dye, paint, and bleach. I will be placing them for sale on my blog in the near future, so stay tuned. I hope you like my little experiment.

What I am wearing:
LF Stores Cut Out Sweater (Similar Here)
DIY Cut Off Jean Shorts (Similar Here)
Urban Outfitters Suede Bag
Studded Leather Bracelet (Similar Here)
