Fashion Film

I pretty much have two girl crushes, remember me telling you about who they are, HERE and HERE. While I was perusing the blogosphere for inspiration this evening, I can upon the lovely Kate Bosworth again, and like always, she stunned. Not only was I captivated my her perfectly natural beauty, I mean come on, who looks that pretty when they are yelling, I was intrigued by the short fashion film its self. I have a few fashion film projects on the horizon, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that they come to fruition. Seeing fashion alive and in movement is no longer only for those invited to runways shows, and I am looking forward to creating such inspiration for others.

Don't forget, I entered the Market HQ styling contest, so please click through HERE and vote for me. The prize is one years worth of killer threads from Market HQ... It would make me the happiest fashion girl in the world.

Styling - Doing Werk

I promise... I have not been slackin'. Just busy pulling together wardrobe for a last minute shoot. Thought I would share with you a little behind the scenes actions of a styling gig I just finished up yesterday. You can see more behind Sugar Coated Style snap shots on my Tumblr HERE. Working wardrobe for an up and coming artist is always a treat because they are so open minded and willing explore style. This shoot in particular was a breath of fresh air because not only was the talent, sweet as can be, but the gents running the show were a class act. New to LA from Montana, the photography crew was inspiring to work with, not to mention, easy on the eyes. Great on set chemistry leads to great photos, and exciting new working relationships. I will be going back with a refreshed rack of clothes for round two in just one week. Don't worry, I will be sure to share.

Seriously... $10,000 Worth Of Clothing

Even though the competition is going to be tough, I am giddy with excited over the phenomenal styling contest that Market HQ is currently holding. What fashion enthusiast, and style blogger out there would not drop to floor and plead for the support needed to win a years worth of clothing valuing $10,000. I mean, seriously!?! I could change my clothes twice a day and double my outfit posts. I have submitted four looks from my blog, but all of you who know my style and realize that four looks is a tough edit, please click over and vote for me HERE, by hitting the like button. I just entered, so I doubt I will be on the leaderboard, but you can search me by entering Lisa A. and/or Sugar Coated Style. Well, I am off to yoga, where my mind is going to be far from clear with Market HQ outfits popping in and out of my head.

Golden and Sparkly Disappointment

I am not fond of bashing on the internet, but I want to share with you the story of a few new golden and sparkly trinkets I, rather reluctantly, purchased online recently. I will not name the e-retailer, but I can assure you, they have an overwhelming presences on the internet, and come to find out an unfortunate return policy, that they adherer to without logic. Long story short, this summer, I will be the maid of honor to a dear friend of mine, in a casual Texas country style wedding. Due to the distance between us, Los Angeles to Dallas, we skype constantly trying to find the right dresses, and this e-retailer seemed to have good selection, but one that very quickly sold out. Soon enough we found a dress for each brides maid that looked just perfect, and jumped. Well, we all know, what looks perfect on a model, or in a professionally lite photograph, doesn't always appear the same once it is in your hands. I was immediately disappointed with the quality, but could not exactly complain because of the e-retailers unusually low price points. Talk about ignoring a red flag. With that already in mind the dress ending up being too large and entirely unflattering to my frame, which I could tell by the look on my dear friends face when I was visiting for a little wedding planning. Disconcerting for us both, we decided to keep looking that this dress was not the dress she wanted me to wear. The very day I arrived back home, I popped the dress in the mail to place the return. A return that this particular online retailer had no intention of processing for me. After politely explaining the situation, and asking for a refund, they again denied me, stating it was beyond the 30 day mark for which they allow returns to be processed. Unlike the several e-retailers that received returned dresses for similar reasons, during the same time frame, they were making no allowances. Stuck with a store credit to an online retailer that, simple put, is not my style, I decided to use the credit in the best way I knew how... On sale merchandise and shipping fees. Hard to believe two rings, a necklace, and a pair of earrings, all junk might I add, equals a dress, but in their eyes it does. In my eyes, that seriously speaks to quality of the dress, and furthermore the retailer. So there it is, my rant, I held back the blatant bashing, and the story behind the new trinket jewelry I get to mix in with most favorite pieces. Lesson learned, quality extends further than the product, and it is also a direct reflection of the store that it selling it.

PS - I promise to never bore you with that much written word again. ;0)

Aussie Adventure

Aussie Adventure

(Etoile Isabel Marant fitted dressConverse shoes,  Aurélie Bidermann Cuff, Chan Luu Bracelets, Topshop skull ring, Made Nne Moja Rings, Natalie Dissel Tusk Pendant, Wildfox Couture Ring, Artemis Wragge cashmere shawl, Vintage HatRay-Ban metal aviator sunglasses)

My preoccupation with getting my bum to Australia has grown even greater, if that is even possible. Hence the collage of the perfect outfit to wear on my first imaginary adventure exploring Australia. I girl can dream. I am not exactly sure what the specific draw is in this directions, but let me ask you this... How many Aussie's have you met that were not quite good looking and not the most perfectly pleasant people to be around? Right!?! Truth be told, my jealously cord is difficult to strike, but I can feel it ringing at times with the thought of life in Australia. Many of my favorite clothing lines have emerged from its very shores, and the continent itself seems to becoming a powerhouse in the fashion industry. Makes sense to me, cool people, have cool ideas, that will produce cool stuff. Take MINKPINK for example, and Shakuhachi, clearly there is more to the world down under than kangaroos and koalas, not that such cuddles are not enough for me. Wonder if anyone is hiring?

Terrywood At OHWOW

First and foremost, these photos do little justice, for myself or the incredibly poppy Terry Henderson Terrywood exhibit that was showing at OHWOW in West Hollywood. His photography is so brilliant and colorful, full of life and energy, some things that I was lacking, on this particular day. I certainly wasn't going to let the repercussions of the previous nights over indulgence prevent me from viewing his work though. I found myself drawn to the greasy hamburgers. I wonder why?

What Am I Wearing:
Nasty Gal Silk Plaid Blouse (Cool one HERE and HERE)
Jeffrey Campbell Arizona Flat Booties (HERE)
H+M Purse (Cool one HERE and HERE)
Bailey of Hollywood Hat (Similar HERE and HERE)
Flea Market Vintage Cowboy Necklace
Ray Ban Wayfarer Sunnies (Similar HERE)
Flea Market Vintage Bracelets
LF Stores Bracelets
Urban Outfitters Jeggings (Similar HERE)
